"Quarry 5" Fauna

bloodypencil sketch

"Dear Fabio,

Thank you for the big smile your rendering put on my face. Very nice. I particularly like the adult hind paw for scale. Wonderful.

Don't change a thing.

Best,

Matt

It's excellent work, but I'm perplexted by the split front feet. I think that is very original and am curious what inspired you to do that.

Just the tracks.
It's really strange that paleoillustrators do that very rarely

To add on to what ~GWolf21 said, there is actually fossil evidence to support ontogenetic allometry in sauropods. Here is an article on this: [link]

The fossil was a Massospondylus, but I don't see any reason to believe that Neosauropods wouldn't have similar ontogeny.

But don't get me wrong! This still a wonderful drawing. I always love your orange pencil drawings, and it's nice to see some more muscular sauropods

Some constructive criticism?

All you've done is scaled down the adult. There's no actual infantile features to it...it's just small. You should shorten the neck, increase the size of the head relative to the body and give it bigger eyes.

If you really think to know more than Mossbrucker and Bakker have explained to me, please speak with them.
I did this under their scientific supervisions.
You are writing what everybody believe, but is not true.

Indeed - Matt and Dr. Bob have given me many an insight to baby stegosaurs and apatosaurs.
